The programme was launched in 2007-08 throughout the state with an objective to empower women and make them self reliant. The programme envisages holistic empowerment of women in the economic, social and cultural spheres. This commences a long journey to improve women’s economic and social status. It also underlines several activities aimed to address issues that have been looked upon as constraints impeding women’s quest for greater economic and social empowerment. Such as:

  • Limited institutional capacity of stakeholders to address and include needs of women
  • Target oriented approach
  • Entrepreneurship development programmes
  • Lack of skills and resources
  • Inadequate access to protective and support services

Objective

  • Creating sustainable self owned & managed women based institutions through capacity building & microfinance inputs.
  • It not only provides an institutional support to women in need & distress but also undertakes a policy advocacy on women specific issues.
  • Facilitating need based sustainable livelihood efforts.
  • It envisions creating a holistic and gendering friendly environment which would ensure an unconditional progress of women.
  • To remove social and cultural impediments to improve women economic and social status in the society and the state.
